Hey everyone! This is crazy to say but... Update 1.2 has officially launched on Gamejolt and Itch.io! This is the first ever "not-so-small" minor update for the game! And probably the only one that will be made for it. A TON of stuff has been added! (Cause this is an early version of Update 2.0!) This whole update was done for two reasons. 1. To give the game more of an updated look and to keep the hype for Chapter Two up! And 2. in preparation for Update 2.0! With this update, your save data from this build should be compatible with version 2.0 and Chapter Two! (We hope LOL) This might be our longest changelog we've ever written to date, so strap in! We've got a long list of stuff to discuss for what's been added, so let's not waste anymore time!

Happy gaming!

Changelog

Patch Notes & Bug Fixes

  • [Change] Updated the Credits Menu and scrolling credits that can be found at the end of Chapter One.

  • [Change] [QOL] Options Menu has been improved.

    • Added "View FPS Toggle"

    • Added "Fullscreen Toggle"

    • Added "Master Volume" Slider

    • Volume now slides at an interval of 2 rather than the original 20.

  • [Change] [QOL] Event Indicator range has been changed from 1 to 3.

  • [Change] [QOL] If you meet the required funds, you can now purchase 5 diamonds at a time from NPC Shopkeeper: "Drew."

  • [Change] [QOL] Changed the Code Input to a number input instead of a full name input.

    • This now matches how entering codes worked in the "The Lost Levels Tech Demo." The previous method was used because the intended method was bugged. It has now been fixed.

    • You can also now use your keyboard to input numbers.

  • [Change] [Battles] All Effect States now go away once a battle is finished.

  • [Change] [Battles] Melty's Main Special "Fire" was given the name cahnge: "Meltdown."

  • [Change] [Battles] Some Impact animations have been changed.

  • [Change] [Battles] Timed Arrow inputs now actually impact the strength of your attacks.

  • [Change] [Battles] Changed the Timed Arrow Indicators to different colors.

    • This change is only visual, and has no change on the gameplay functionality.

  • [Change] [Visual] Updated some Art Assets

    • Updated the reaction bubbles with new original art.

    • Updated the Icon Sheet with new original pixel art instead of Photoshop art or ripped assets from Geometry Dash.

    • Updated Battle Backgrounds with new original art.

    • Some colors have been adjusted on some NPC Sprites to match the color schemes and palettes of other characters.

    • Gave "Infected Steve" Unique Art Sprites.

    • Gave "Forlorn" Unique Animated Art Sprites.

  • [Change] [Visual] Cubey and Melty now have Emote Sprites, and will react to certain moments during the game.

  • [Change] [Visual] The Text outline opacity has been changed to be at full opacity.

  • [Change] [Map] Certain Maps have been updated.

    • "The Trail" Map has been updated.

    • "The Dashlands" Map has been updated.

  • [Change] [Technical] All plugins planned to be used in the game have been added into the code and files to ensure compatibility with future updates.

    • Save Files made in Version 1.2 should now be compatible with future upcoming updates thanks to this.

  • [Bugfix] All Audio has been properly leveled.

  • [Bugfix] Some Song Tracks have been cut to reduce file size.

  • [Bugfix] Fixed a layering issue in "The Snow Lands."

    • Fixed the issue near the lake that allowed you to get on top of an out of bounds cliff.

  • [Bugfix] Fixed a Softlock that occured when choosing the "No" option when asked to exit The King's Castle.

  • [Bugfix] Fixed an issue regarding the Main Menu's Button Hitboxes.

    • This was caused by the image file sizes having large width sizes, which caused the buttons to have overlapping hitboxes. This has now been fixed, and the button hitboxes are the same size as their images.

  • [Bugfix] Fixed an issue in which the Timed Arrow Indicators wouldn't appear if you sped through the battle commands.

    • Speeding through battle commands at the start of the battle would make the Timed Arrow Indicators invisible for the first turn. This has now been fixed.

  • [Bugfix] Fixed an issue in which the screen would freeze and cause a softlock during battles.

    • This was caused by the game engine not being able to catch up to devices with high hz. This has been fixed with the help of a plugin.

  • [Bugfix] [Unknown Fix] Attempted to fix a random crash from occuring during long gameplay sessions.

    • This is caused from memory overflow, which can be hurtful to the game if too much is loaded in consistently. We have tried our best to resolve this issue, but expect it to sometimes still occur. Best you can do is save as many times as you can throughout the game!

  • [Bugfix] [Beat That] Fixed an issue that would cause multiple inputs from one click from the first beat orb on high end devices.

    • This is an old fix, but we figured we'd add it for those that might be unaware this was fixed months ago.

Hope you enjoy this update and I hope you're excited for Chapter Two coming soon!!
